Hello, I'm Samantha
A baker, mum, and Peak District obsessive — running a tiny cake studio from a converted outbuilding in Bakewell.
From Sunday baking
to a small cake studio
The Flour Pot started in 2019, in a tiny kitchen with a borrowed mixer and far too much enthusiasm. I'd always loved baking — birthday cakes for friends, wedding cakes for cousins — but the thing that lit me up was the design: the fresh-flower pairings, the colour palettes, the quiet hours of piping that turn a sponge into something a person will photograph for years.
Six years later, I'm still piping. The mixer is finally my own. The studio sits at the end of the garden, and there's almost always a cake on the bench.
Every cake I make is for someone — a wedding, a birthday, a quiet anniversary — and that's still the bit I love most. The fact that something I made will be in the middle of a really good day.
Every cake is made for somebody, on a day that matters. That's the bit I never want to lose.
Three things we always protect
Made by hand
No factory finishes. Every flower is piped, every drip is poured, every print laid by hand. Some imperfection is the point.
Honest ingredients
Real butter, free-range eggs, proper vanilla. Local where we can, seasonal when it matters. Nothing artificial in the sponge.
Rooted in the Peak
We bake in Bakewell and deliver across our home patch. We know the back roads to your venue and the best place to park.
Come and say hello
Whether you've got a wedding to plan or just a quick question, the studio kettle is always on.
