A birthday cake should look like the person it is for. Whether that means a sky-high drip cake, a delicate floral design or a favourite character, here is how ordering a custom cake works around Bakewell and Sheffield.
How much notice to give
For a custom birthday cake, five days is the minimum, and two to three weeks gives us room for more detailed designs. If your celebration has crept up on you, get in touch anyway, because we keep a little space for last-minute requests.
Choosing flavours
Our sponges include classic vanilla, rich chocolate, zesty lemon, red velvet, carrot, and coffee and walnut. Fillings range from vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache to lemon curd, jam and salted caramel. We are always happy to advise on a combination that suits the birthday person.
Sizing for your party
A six inch cake is lovely for a small family gathering, while an eight inch suits a typical party of twenty or so. If you are unsure, tell us your guest numbers and we will recommend a size so nobody misses out.
Send us a photo or two for inspiration. It is the quickest way for us to understand the look you are after.
Delivery and collection
You are welcome to collect free of charge from our Bakewell studio by appointment, and we will share parking tips when you book. We also hand-deliver around Bakewell, the Peak District and Sheffield, with a delivery slot that suits your day.
Getting started
The easiest first step is a quick enquiry with the date, rough guest numbers and any ideas or photos. We will reply with a friendly quote, usually within a day, and take it from there.
A birthday comes once a year, so let us make the cake the part everyone remembers.
